In the hustle and bustle of modern life, stress can feel like an unavoidable part of every day. In response to this, more and more people are looking for alternative ways to channel their energy positively and safely.

In recent years, a new type of sport has emerged, known as ‘experiential’ or ‘adventure’ sports. These activities focus on challenging the body and mind by testing physical strength, agility, balance, and coordination in a safe environment with minimal risk of injury.

Axe throwing is one such activity that is growing in popularity around the world—and now there’s an axe-throwing experience you can enjoy in London! So if you’re looking for a different kind of challenge without sacrificing safety or comfort, read on for our expert advice about axe throwing in London.

    What is Axe Throwing?

Axe throwing is a sport in which two people (or teams of people) throw axes at a wooden target to score points. The axes are specially designed for throwing and can be either fixed- or rotating-handle. The person whose axe is closest to the center of the target wins the round.

Rounds are usually best of three or five to determine the overall winner. There are two main types of axes used for axe throwing. The first is called a ‘sled’ and is designed for general logging and woodcutting. The second is a specialized axe designed for throwing, often with a rubber or synthetic handle for better grip. Fixed-handle axes are better for beginners, as rotating-handle axes produce more spin and can be challenging to control when first starting out.

Why Is Axe Throwing So Popular?

Axe throwing is a sport that can appeal to almost anybody. While it requires strength and physical dexterity, it is also inherently safe, allowing beginners to build up their confidence and skill gradually without any risk of serious injury.

Most axe-throwing venues provide special protective gear so that even the most novice thrower can participate without fear. Axe throwing has also proven to be a brilliant team-building activity and has become a go-to option for corporate team-building events. It is a sport that people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy together, building camaraderie and stronger relationships along the way.

All of the venues listed here provide protective clothing, including a hat, shirt, gloves, and sports shoes that you can wear during your session. – Axe throwing is a fantastic activity for both adults and kids as young as eight years old. – If you are visiting as a group, it is best to book your session ahead of time to avoid disappointment. – All participants must follow the venue’s safety rules, paying particular attention to the type of axe they throw, the direction it is facing, and their footwork.

How to Throw an Axe Like a Pro

    – Start with your feet shoulder-width apart and your toes facing straight towards the target. Squat slightly and make sure your knees are bent and your back is straight. From this position, take a deep breath and use your core muscles to rotate your hips and upper body until your torso is facing the target.

With the axe held in both hands above your head, take one step towards the target with your lead foot and bring the axe down in an arc towards the target. Keep your hips facing the target and your upper body steady as you bring the axe down. – Make sure to follow the axe with your eyes as you bring it down towards the target. – Let the axe fall naturally towards the target and do not try to “put power into it”.

Keep your torso facing the target at all times and do not look up at the blade. – After the axe hits the target, it will bounce off to the side. – Follow the momentum of the axe as it bounces towards the side. – Quickly shift your footwork to follow the axe’s momentum and bring the axe back towards the target using your hips.
